As part of its integrated employment policy, Riese & Müller offers jobs in various areas of the company to people in the disabled workshops of the Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie, such as in wheel construction, incoming goods receipt and in the company's own Corner Café. There, depending on their abilities and personal interests, they take on responsible roles. A matter of course for their colleagues – because diversity has always been perceived as an enrichment in the company, which employs people from 38 nations. For Dr. Sandra Wolf, who is in charge of the strategic development of human resources work on the management board, this cooperation with Diakonie is more than corporate responsibility: “For us, the cooperation with Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie is absolutely a matter close to our heart and one of the central building blocks of meaningful cooperation. Diakonie employees make a valuable contribution to the working atmosphere in the company, enrich our culture and are highly motivated and willing to learn.”

In addition to employing people with disabilities in-house, Riese & Müller also supports the Sonnenhof working farm in Mühltal, close to the company’s new premises. Eight employees of Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie run the organic farm according to Naturland organic standards together with around 40 other people with disabilities. The organic milk for the Corner Café is delivered fresh from the Sonnenhof directly to the counter of the café, where employees get to enjoy it with their cereal or cappuccino. All other products available in the Corner Café also come either from close by or from larger suppliers such as Alnatura or Lemonaid, who are committed to principles of sustainability and fair trade.

Since its foundation, the cooperation at Riese & Müller has been characterised by equal treatment, responsible conduct and trust. This also includes ensuring people with and without disabilities can work together on an equal footing.
