The perfect gear for every pace.

Whatever your plans and your expectations, you will find the perfect gear among the Riese & Müller E-Bikes. Different versions of comfortable hub gears and sporty derailleur gears form a wide and above all very individual range of equipment. Whether you want to take long trips, mainly ride around the city or go off the beaten track with your E-Bike: our bikes and gears are always perfectly matched to each other – and to your needs.

Derailleur gear

A well-maintained derailleur gear has the best degree of efficiency of all the possible types of transmission. This is important for sporty riders who want to eke every last metre of range from their E-Bikes. Derailleur gears come in the classic design with cables and manual gear levers as well as in electronic versions. In this case a cable runs through the frame instead of a gear cable. Lightly tapping the buttons on the handlebar quickly and accurately switches to the desired gear.

Shimano Deore

Our touring and mountain models are equipped with 10-speed or 11-speed Shimano Deore or Deore XT gears, depending on the model and series. Shimano's Deore series has been on the market for more than 30 years and has been constantly optimised and enhanced. It features impressive, tried-and-tested technology and is extremely reliable, well-engineered and easy to use. Shimano Deore gears have proven their worth for many decades and are indispensable premium components even in the E-Bike sector.

Shimano XTR Di2

With the Shimano XTR Di2 gear, both Delite signature models feature one of the best electronic derailleur gears on the market. It allows extremely rapid and precise shifting and is particularly resistant to dirt, which offers tremendous advantages when riding off road. In addition, there is no cable wear when switching gear, since the XTR Di2 works entirely without cables. The gear system is fully integrated; the power is supplied directly from the E-Bike battery.

Hub gear

Hub gears are hugely popular thanks to their low maintenance requirements and easy, highly comfortable operation. Unlike a derailleur gear, changing gear does not rely on a jumping chain, but occurs within the hub, in the centre of the rear wheel. Since this is a closed system, the gear is protected from moisture and dirt at all times. This type of gear allows the use of a modern, lightweight and especially quiet carbon belt drive.

NuVinci N380

Instead of lots of complex sprockets and components, the NuVinci N380 uses rotating and incline-adjustable balls that are positioned between two discs. This makes it easy to switch gear at a standstill and even under full load. With the NuVinci N380 gear hub you can always ride in the perfect gear ratio without any gaps, since you can smoothly switch to an endless number of gears within a gear range of 380%. Its simple operation with the rotating handle on the handlebars means that the perfect gear can be selected intuitively. Thanks to this lack of gear jumps, riding comfort is markedly increased compared to conventional gear changes.

NuVinci H-Sync N380

The version with automatic gears – the NuVinci H-Sync N380 – promises even more comfort. Simply select your optimum pedalling rate and the system automatically finds the right gear and switches to it for you. So you can easily conquer any climb without ever getting out of breath. And even after short breaks, such as at traffic lights, you will set off in the right gear. If needed, you can set the desired pedal frequency at any time via the Bosch E-Bike display and external control unit.

Shimano Nexus

The Riese & Müller city models are fitted with the reliable Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear with coasting, which is operated via a convenient twist grip on the handlebar. You can even change gear while at a standstill. This hub gear is very low-maintenance and therefore perfect for riders who want as little to do with maintaining their gear as possible. You can also change gear while at a standstill. Some city models are available with optional backpedal function for a secure feeling in all situations.

Rohloff Speedhub

Riders who are often on tour and cycling through hills need a broad range of gears. The Rohloff Speedhub – a 14-speed hub gear with a performance of over 520% – is perfectly suited to leaving even the steepest climbs behind you without fatigue. With its extremely high efficiency between 95 and 98%, it is just as good as modern derailleur gears. Its fully enclosed design, however, ensures the maintenance effort is considerably lower and changing gear via the twist grip on the handlebar is even more convenient. In normal use it shouldn't need to be adjusted for several thousand kilometres. Like all Rohloff hubs, the Speedhub gear unit is precision-manufactured in Germany and guarantees maximum reliability and a very long service life.

Alfine Di2

New with this model year, we are fitting our Roadster models with the ultra-modern, electronic Shimano Alfine Di2. The name stands for "Digital Integrated Intelligence": gears are changed fully automatically at the press of a button without any cables whatsoever. With its stylish design, the Alfine Di2 perfectly matches the new Roadster and supports the minimalist overall look. And its high resistance and long durability mean you will be enjoying this sophisticated gear system for years to come.
