The drive.

All Riese & Müller E-Bikes and E-Cargo Bikes are equipped with Bosch drives from the Performance line. The drives impress with absolutely no need for maintenance and are among the most reliable on the market. With pedal assistance of up to 20 mph and up to 28 mph on our HS models, you can reach any destination effortlessly.

The heart.

With the tremendous driving force of the Bosch motors, you can conquer any terrain and any mountain. Its aesthetically pleasing integration into the crank bearing ensures plenty of floor clearance and the direct transfer of force to the back wheel via a chain or belt. The driving force is controlled using the pedals, not via an accelerator handle as on a motorbike. The harder you push on the pedals, the more the electric drive supports you. When you stop pedalling, the motor stops and you continue to roll - just like on any normal bike. The motor coasting ensures resistance-free riding even when the motor is switched off.

A pushing and starting aid fitted as standard helps your E-Bike up slopes even when you’re not in the saddle. The button used to push your bike from pure pedal power to 4 mph (or 9 mph on the HS models) is located on the external control unit.

These maintenance-free motors have an electronic control unit with an ultra-modern 32-bit processor and sensors for power, pedal rate and speed. Thanks to 1,000 sensor measurements per second, its coordination is superb. The higher the power, the higher the torque and therefore the faster the acceleration.

Bosch Performance CX motor

The highest-torque Bosch drive guarantees maximum riding fun - even up hills. Its enormous performance coupled with sensitive responsiveness produce a completely new riding experience off the beaten track. The maximum torque is 75 Nm, with pedal assistance of as much as 300% - even at high speeds. With “Direct Flow”, you have a powerful push on the back wheel from speeds of just 20 rpm. Whether it be uphill or on the flat, this acceleration will inspire you.

Bosch Performance Speed motor

The Bosch Performance Speed motor on all E-Bike HS models assists you up to a speed of 28 mp/h. Up to this point, it is identical to the Bosch Performance Cruise motor. For the Speed motor, you need an insurance certificate and a driving licence for small powered bikes. A driving licence for class MA (from the age of 16 upwards) or for cars includes this. Helmets are mandatory on HS models. We recommend using a Pedelec helmet that complies with the EN 1077 and EN 1078 standards.

Bike Data.

An E-Bike's control centre is the display. It is operated either directly on the display or via an external control unit. The remote control allows you to set four levels of pedal assistance. The button for the pushing aid is also located here.

Bosch Intuvia Display

The Bosch Intuvia display provides information about the battery charge level, the range, the number of kilometres travelled that day, the total number of kilometres travelled, the riding time, the current motor output, the time, the speed and the average speed. On our automatic E-Bike models, the automatic version of the display also offers an option for controlling the pedal frequency. A USB interface allows MP3 players and mobile phones to be charged while riding too.

Petrol in the blood. Current in the tank.

Ultra-modern Bosch lithium ion batteries with a 500 Wh energy reserve provide the power for our E-Bikes. The battery capacity of 1000 Wh is achieved by means of the DualBattery technology, which uses two batteries in parallel.

The more watt-hours the battery has, the wider its range. This also depends on numerous other factors, such as the pedal assistance level which has been set, the pace, the outside temperature, or the inclination of the route. The range computer on the display provides more detailed information. When it's stop-and-go in the city, the range is shorter than with a constant journey over a longer distance - comparable with the fuel consumption of a car. If you find while you’re on a ride that your battery's residual power is not going to be enough to complete your journey, you can reduce the degree of assistance and therefore still reach your destination comfortably.

The batteries are charged directly on the E-Bike or, once removed, at any standard 110/200 V wall socket. There is no need to run the battery down completely, because it can be charged in its partially discharged state without any "memory effect". The lifespan is 800 – 1,000 charging cycles. Thanks to the short charging times, the battery can be given a good top-up even during a lunch break, for example. For the 500 Wh battery, a complete charge takes just 4.5 hours. With the DualBattery technology, both batteries can be charged at the same time.

The Bosch range calculator.

Calculate the range of your next E-Bike tour in advance online. You can enter parameters such as the rider’s weight, motor power, battery or type of terrain. You can also influence the range independently of your E-Bike's technology. Reduced pedal assistance and more muscle power from you can increase the range significantly.
