For Veljko, his café is a place where people can meet up, relax and feel at home, and where everyone is welcome. He wants customers to experience it as a place where they can discover and try new things, rather like children do at a playground. If they like, they can also find out everything there is to know about the origin of coffee beans and how to roast them. The café procures its coffee beans from Guatemala and Ethiopia, among other places.

The “Playground’s” coffee roasting is so popular that Veljko even supplies other cafés and offices in Hamburg with coffee. He prefers to do this on his Cargo Bike: he can fit plenty of coffee onto his Load 75, which is also more environmentally friendly, faster and more flexible in urban traffic than a car – and Veljko never has to look around for a parking space for long. 

Veljko built up the café as a second string to his bow, alongside his job as a photographer. His creative side is also reflected in the shop: its colourful interior, individual designs on the packaging and self-designed merchandise. Alongside posters, he even has fan scarves and swimsuits carrying the shop’s logo.

When Veljko is not in the shop, he is lured out into nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once again here, his Load is his trusty mode of transport and, guaranteed to always be with him, his dog Fredo.
