Mühltal, Germany, 24/06/2026: Riese & Müller, the premium manufacturer of e-bikes and cargo bikes, is launching the comprehensively redesigned successor to its successful midtail model: the Multicharger4. The new generation combines the proven Multicharger concept with an evolved design style, impressive transport capacity, and a flexibly configurable bike platform for everyday riding, family riding, and longer trips.

“With the Multicharger4, we are systematically advancing our midtail concept and refining the bike as a veritable all-rounder for a wide range of uses,” explains Dominik Mahr, Head of Design at Riese & Müller. “The platform facilitates agile, sporty handling with excellent load capacity and, thanks to the new Equipment kits, offers maximum scope to meet very differing everyday riding requirements.”
New design for heavier loads and the ultimate riding experience
The Multicharger4 design combines the functionality and load capacity of a cargo bike with the riding experience and everyday qualities of a touring bike. This provides for a particularly seamless riding experience, much closer to that of a conventional e-bike, with an optimum balance between the rider and load.
In the new version, the permissible total weight increases from 160 to 200 kg, and up to 80 kg (previously 65 kg) can be transported on the extended carrier. This makes the bike ideal for different transport plans, yet, thanks to its compact length of 191.5 cm (frame size M), it is easy to manoeuvre in day-to-day riding. The Multicharger4 comes in frame sizes S/M and L/XL with a standardised frame shape with lowered top tube, which makes it much easier to get on.
New Equipment kits
With five new Equipment kits – Passenger kit, Cargo kit, Cargo kit Plus, Family kit, and Family kit Plus – the Multicharger4 can be tailored even more specifically to different everyday riding and leisure requirements. Depending on the equipment selected, the midtail bike can be configured to transport children or shopping, or for multi-day trips with additional luggage. The kits combine coordinated components; these include two large cargo bags, a top tube bag, Safety bar bracket, Sideloader, Safety bar with two seat cushions, and weather cover solutions.

Redesigned accessories
Accessories for the Multicharger4 have also undergone an extensive makeover: spoke and chain guards fitted as standard have been redesigned and can be simply removed for maintenance work. A further highlight is the completely redeveloped Safety bar, which opens downwards and thus allows children to get on independently. A redesigned weather cover relies on reflective fabrics to ensure maximum visibility in all weathers. The integrated MIK HD system used on the carrier enables accessories, such as two child seats, to be fitted quickly and securely.
Drives and gears
Bosch Performance Line PX, CX and Cargo Line (Speed) motors are available for the drive, depending on the model version. In terms of gears, customers can choose from a Nexus 5-speed hub gear (FAMILY), Shimano Cues Linkglide 10-speed derailleur gear (touring), an Enviolo Utility hub gear (vario, automatic and vario HS), and a rohloff E-14 EBS electric hub gear (rohloff HS). Riese & Müller relies on the Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh for its battery system. Optionally, a PowerPack 800 Wh behind the seat tube, which can be removed to the side, increases the capacity to a total of 1,600 Wh. This enables the Multicharger4 to adapt to different topographical demands and range requirements.
