The motor.

All Riese & Müller E-Bikes and E-Cargo bikes are equipped with Bosch motors from the Active and Performance lines. The drives impress with absolute freedom from maintenance and are among the most reliable on the market. With pedal assistance of up to 25 km/h, you can reach any destination effortlessly.

With the tremendous driving force of the Bosch motors, you can conquer any terrain and any mountain. Its aesthetically pleasing integration into the crank bearing ensures plenty of ground clearance, a low centre of gravity, directional stability and the direct transfer of force to the back wheel via a chain or belt. The riding experience provided by the mid-mounted motor most closely approximates the sensation of riding a normal bike. All Riese & Müller E-Bikes are Pedelecs. The driving force is controlled using the pedals, not via an accelerator handle as on a motorbike. The harder you push on the pedals, the more the electric drive supports you. When you stop pedalling, the motor stops and you continue to roll – just like on any normal bike.

 

A pushing and starting aid fitted as standard helps your E-Bike up slopes even when you’re not in the saddle. The button used to make your bike push itself at up to 6 km/h is located on the external control unit. The maintenance-free motors have an electronic control unit with an ultra-modern 32-bit processor and sensors for power, pedal rate and speed. Thanks to 1,000 sensor measurements per second, its coordination is superb. The higher the power, the higher the torque and therefore the faster the acceleration. The maximum speed up to which your motor provides assistance is 25 km/h. The combination of the motors with a derailleur gear enables a greater degree of efficiency than the combination with a hub gear.

Bosch Active Cruise motor

Its harmonious start-up characteristics, a maximum torque of 50 Nm and pedal assistance up to 250% make getting around a pleasure. Three sensors guarantee the perfect level of assistance at all times for a relaxed and safe riding experience. The Bosch Active Cruise motor is ideal for greater everyday mobility with a tailwind on demand. A trip to the shops or a Sunday bike ride can now be enjoyed with no effort whatsoever.

Bosch Active Plus motor

Weighing only 3.2 kg, running ultra-quietly and featuring an outstanding design: this is the new Bosch Active Plus motor. Its harmonious-agile start-up characteristics, up to 50 Nm torque and pedal assistance up to 250% make every trip an experience. With the Active Plus it is now possible for the first time to ride at over 25 km/h and with the motor switched off with no resistance at all. In our Cruiser and Cruiser Mixte ranges the motor is also available on the city models with back-pedal function. 

Bosch Performance Cruise motor 

The enormous thrust of this powerful drive with up to 275% pedal assistance is a delight to every ambitious E-Bike rider. Its sporty dynamic start-up characteristics, 250 watt power and a maximum drive torque of up to 63 Nm with derailleur gear (hub gear, excluding Rohloff, up to 50 Nm) guarantee the best possible performance on any ground. So the Bosch Performance Cruise masters any terrain and any pace – from moderate to fast. 

 

Bosch Performance CX motor

The highest-torque Bosch drive guarantees maximum riding fun – even up hills. Its enormous performance, coupled with sensitive responsiveness, produces a completely new riding experience off the beaten track. The maximum torque is 75 Nm, with pedal assistance of as much as 300 % – even at high speeds. The new eMTB mode means you no longer have to choose between various levels of assistance, because the progressive motor assistance automatically adapts to the riding style regardless of the pedal pressure. You can notice a huge difference especially on hills: this is Uphill Flow. (The eMTB mode replaces the Sport mode. It is shown on the Intuvia display as Sport mode.) With "Direct Flow" you have powerful thrust on the rear wheel from 20 rpm already. Whether it be uphill or on the flat, this acceleration will inspire you.
