Pioneering networking and digital services
Since 1993, Riese & Müller has placed riders and their needs at the heart of every development. To improve the riding experience beyond the product, the Weiterstadt-based manufacturer of premium E-Bikes and E-Cargo bikes is expanding its portfolio in model year 2019 with pioneering networking and digital services. This will make Riese & Müller E-Bikes even more useful and enjoyable for everyday life. The Rider-centric Experience (RX) is always paramount – so that riders can concentrate fully on the unique riding dynamics.
With the start of the new model year 2019, Riese & Müller is taking the Rider-centric Experience (RX) to a new level. Not only the use of the COBI.Bike system in various model series, but also a new digital service portal for dealers and end customers ensure a closer connection between the rider and his e-bike.
Riese & Müller and COBI.Bike begin collaborating on connected E-Bikes
With COBI.Bike sport, Riese & Müller brings all the smartphone power onto the e-bike: from sophisticated bicycle navigation to favourite songs, from making phone calls to fitness tracking and live weather updates. With the COBI.Bike app, the smartphone becomes an on-board computer - motor control included. Together with COBI.Bike, Riese & Müller is working on the future of digital biking. Applying a common understanding of innovation and technology, both companies are developing the next step in the evolution of cycling. Smart, comfortable and electric. Starting from model year 2019, COBI.Bike will be available as an option on selected E-Bike and E-Cargo series from Riese & Müller. The collaboration will not be restricted to the equipping of bikes with the COBI.Bike smart Connected Biking system. Both companies are working together to further develop digital products and services. Special modules are to be developed to enable COBI.Bike to be used on Riese & Müller E-Bikes, significantly adapting COBI.Bike app to the specific needs of Riese & Müller riders. Riese & Müller is one of the first manufacturers to use the COBI.Bike DevKit (SDK), the world‘s first open development tool for the bike cockpit. Additional functions can be added to the COBI.Bike app by means of „modules“. Some of the ideas that the team of COBI.Bike and Riese & Müller are working on include a direct dealer search in the app or access to the right handbook for the bike with just a single click. In addition, the COBI.Bike systems for Riese & Müller E-Bikes will be adapted to the brand and riding experience through specific Riese & Müller colour schemes, known as „themes“, and through branding. The aim of the collaboration is to offer Riese & Müller riders added benefits through digital services.
Digital service platform for dealers and end customers
A further component of Riese & Müller's digitization strategy is a new service platform that connects the rider more closely with his bike. From warranty registration to stored manuals and instructions and the arrangement of service appointments, everything can be found in one central location. Riders and dealers benefit equally from the direct connection. The platform will be launched at the end of 2018.
